Grading system
At AMS, every listing shows a condition grade so you know exactly what you are buying. We use a standardised system with two separate grades: one for the model and one for the box/packaging.
How to read a grade
Grades are shown as model grade / box grade. For example:
- NM / NMB — near-mint model in a near-mint box
- EX / GB — excellent model in a good box
- M / NB — mint model, no box included
Model grades

|---|---|---|
| M | Mint | Perfect condition. Never removed from packaging or handled. Indistinguishable from a brand-new item straight from the manufacturer. |
| NM | Near Mint | Excellent condition with only the most minor imperfections — perhaps briefly displayed in a dust-free cabinet. No visible scratches, chips, or paint flaws. Essentially as new to all but the most critical eye. |
| EX | Excellent | Minor signs of careful handling or display. May show very light surface marks visible only under close inspection. All parts, decals, and accessories intact. A well-cared-for collector piece. |
| VG | Very Good | Noticeable but not excessive wear. Light scratches, minor paint chips, or faint dust marks from extended display. Still presents well and is fully displayable. All major parts intact. |
| G | Good | Significant wear from handling or long-term display. Visible scratches, paint wear, or minor part looseness. Still a genuine collector item but clearly shows its history. May be missing minor accessories. |
Box grades
For collector models, the original manufacturer packaging carries significant value — both as part of the display presentation and as a resale factor. A model with its original box in good condition commands a higher price than the same model without packaging.

| MB | Mint Box | Box is in perfect condition. No dents, tears, scuffs, or discolouration. All inserts, foam, and inner packaging intact. |
| NMB | Near Mint Box | Box shows only the most minor shelf wear. Perhaps a tiny scuff on a corner or very light dust marks. Inner packaging fully intact. |
| EXB | Excellent Box | Light wear from storage — minor corner bumps, light surface marks, or slight fading. Structurally sound and fully functional for display and storage. |
| GB | Good Box | Noticeable wear — dents, tears, tape repairs, or significant shelf wear. Still provides protection but shows clear signs of age and handling. |
| NB | No Box | Model only — no original manufacturer packaging included. The model will be shipped in protective packaging provided by AMS. |
Our grading commitment
Every grade is assigned personally by the shop owner — a collector with over 20 years of experience. We photograph each item in detail and describe any specific imperfections in the product listing.
