The World Champion's car: CMC's 1:18 scale Maserati 250F 1957 — "Das Weltmeisterauto", the car in which Juan Manuel Fangio won the 1957 German Grand Prix and his fifth world title.

A hand-assembled full-metal precision model, authentic to the last detail: an elaborate metal tubular space frame, a true-to-original six-cylinder in-line engine with all ancillaries and cabling, open-cut ventilation gills across the whole body, ribbed metal brake drums and stainless-steel two-eared central locks with the embossed Borrani logo. A remarkable 301 rivets at the tail were set individually by hand, some with washers.

Presented in Italian racing red with the yellow nose band. Retired by CMC.

  • Box · NMB (Near Mint Box). Original CMC box. Structurally sound and has protected the model fully; only minor shelf wear, which is why it is graded just below Mint.

Original Vehicle

1957 was one of the most distinguished and eventful years in Maserati's history. On 4 August, in front of more than 200,000 spectators, the German Grand Prix started at the Nürburgring in the Eifel — the most difficult and at the same time most beautiful racetrack of the century.

After a bitter fight with his two greatest rivals, Mike Hawthorn and Peter Collins, both driving the Ferrari 801 F1, Juan Manuel Fangio won in his lightweight Maserati 250F by just 3.6 seconds — one of the greatest victories of his career. With it he secured his fifth world championship and became a legend of racing history, and so did the 250F. CMC created this model to mark Maserati's 90th anniversary (1914–2004).
