CMC M-071 — Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa 1958 (Pontoon Fender)
One of the most striking racing cars ever built: CMC's 1:18 scale Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa 1958 "Pontoon Fender".
Hand-assembled from 1,638 single parts. The removable engine hood, with quick-release catches and leather-belt straps, reveals the twelve-cylinder V-engine complete with all ancillaries, piping and cabling. Spoke wheels on aluminium rims with hand-mounted stainless-steel spokes on nipples and two-eared Borrani central locks, massive brake drums with star-shaped air inlets, a stainless-steel fuel tank with fine rivet structure and a cockpit with leather seats and fully instrumented dashboard are all reproduced.
Presented in Ferrari red, polished to a brilliant finish.

The Testa Rossa — literally "red head" — owes its name to the red-painted valve covers of its twelve-cylinder engine. One of the most thoroughbred and successful racing cars of all time, it carried Ferrari to several World Sportscar Championship titles (1958, 1960, 1961) and, among others, three Le Mans victories.
Development began in 1957 in response to a coming FIA rule change that limited sports-car engines to 3 litres from 1958. Ferrari drew on its famous Colombo V12 from the 250 GT series; enlarged to 2,953 cc, it became a powerful 300 hp engine for the Testa Rossa. The ingenious designer and coachbuilder Sergio Scaglietti created the extraordinary body whose nose defined the 1957/58 cars: the deeply drawn-in front fenders were there to cool the front drum brakes, and racing circles soon spoke of the "Pontoon Fender" Testa Rossa.
