Exoto GPC97063 — Ferrari 312B 1970, Jacky Ickx #3, Mexican GP Winner, with driver figure
Retired collector piece from Exoto's Grand Prix Classics series: the 1:18 Ferrari 312B in which Jacky Ickx won the 1970 Mexican Grand Prix, the season finale, at the head of a Ferrari one-two.
This is the GPC97063 version with the Ickx driver figure seated in the cockpit — the sister release GPC97060 shows the same car without a driver.
Hand-assembled from over 150 parts, the model shows off what made the 312B special: the low Tipo 001 flat-12, fully wired and plumbed and exposed behind the cockpit, with working steering and real coil springs on the suspension. Finished in Rosso Corsa with the #3 race number and the period Shell, Firestone, Girling, Ferodo, Champion, Koni and Magneti Marelli markings.
Exoto has retired the model; it is only found on the secondary market today.

The 312B was Mauro Forghieri's answer to the Cosworth era: a new 3-litre twelve with its cylinder banks laid flat at 180°, carried low in an aluminium monocoque. The flat engine lowered the centre of gravity and cleaned up the airflow, and it started a line of Ferrari "boxer" cars that ran through the 1970s.
Once its early reliability problems were solved, the 312B was the fastest car of the second half of 1970. Jacky Ickx won in Austria, Canada and finally Mexico on 25 October 1970, driving chassis 001 home ahead of team-mate Clay Regazzoni, who had started from pole, with Denis Hulme third. Ickx finished the season runner-up with 40 points to Jochen Rindt's 45 — Rindt had been killed at Monza in September and became Formula 1's only posthumous world champion.
